FAITH RINGS TRUE
Just outside our front window stands a constant reminder of God’s love - a church steeple magnificent and tall - lifting high the cross as a reference point lest we forget. Even in the darkest of nights, it radiates a visual call to faith beyond the moon and the stars.
When dawn’s shades are drawn and our vision obstructed, still His love calls out to us, a steady heartbeat ringing from the foot of that cross awakening our little sleepy town to declare the rising of the Son.
Each day, each hour, the bells clearly sound, marking the passing of time and ushering in the breaking of bread with a hymn, every mid-day and it's eve. Children skip, mommies stroll, joggers trot, and cars accelerate around and through the open spaces of the testimony that lies before us.
And so, we all live and move and have our being in the shadow and the echo of the cross of Christ.
Much like the building which embodies the symbols and the sounds of God’s glory, we too are built up by His grace so that the chambers of our hearts can resonate with the notes of His peace, forgiveness and blessing.
A song this broken world so desperately needs to hear.
So today, in this time of clanging confusion, let us be faithful to rise, as high as the tallest belfry, above the noise below. And also, may we ring constant and true as the chimes housed within the tower of our faith bringing a kind word, a sincere smile, or a meaningful touch to each and every hurting soul, providing a fitting accompaniment to the most beautiful love song ever written.
I will sing of the Lord’s great love forever; with my mouth I will make your faithfulness known through all generations. Psalm 89:1 NIV
