HOW MUCH MORE

“How much does Grammy love you?”

“THIS much!” I covered my baby granddaughter’s hands with my own and stretched her arms wide to show her, although human arms could never reach that far.

As she grew, we played another game that required a little more energy on Grammy’s part.

“..7, 8, 9, 10! Ready or not, here I come!” I called to the love of my life and set out to find her though I knew she couldn’t be too far away.

I looked high and low to finally see a foot peek out from under the bean bag chair. When I lifted it, I found her curled up like a ball underneath, and we both squealed in delight, but neither one of us was that surprised.

Because she knew that my love would always find her, no matter how long it took. I would search for that precious child in every far corner, under a mountain of blankets, and behind countless doors to hear that sweet giggle.

And I would do it again and again and again until she knew the truth.

She is worth every effort it takes.

And even though it’s all a game, it answers the questions every human heart is afraid to utter out loud.

Does anyone love me that much? Am I worth looking for?

So each morning, I curl up with an open Bible and a weary, world-bruised heart. I sit, and I wait for Love to show up.

Because if this grandmother never tires of searching, how much more will God, Whose name is Love, never give up on me?

And it’s true, Love always finds me wherever I am hiding.

I don’t know why I’m always so surprised.

After all, I am the love of His Life.

And dear one, so are you.

Our fears for today, our worries about tomorrow, or where we are—high above the sky, or in the deepest ocean—nothing will ever be able to separate us from the love of God demonstrated by our Lord Jesus Christ when he died for us.
