THE BEST WAY TO GET AHEAD
"JESUS! I need a path. PLEASE! Help me find the way!"
I'd love to tell you that this recent moment was a sweet, humble plea.
In reality, it was a full-blown tantrum at the feet of my Father.
Why can't I move? I don't know which direction to go.
So, I waited for a Word or sign, but my inbox and head were receiving all kinds of messages. "Gotta go. Gotta run. Gotta get things done."
I pulled myself up by my bootstraps, and stumbled ahead of Jesus assuming that's what He expects His grown children to do.
Why do we keep going when we need to stop and be held?
Why do we try to wiggle out of God's hand?
It’s a recurring pattern in my life, a hard truth that's part of my story in "Me, Mom, & Jesus":
***
"She likes to keep moving, I think," I told Mom on the phone, moving the stroller back and forth.
"Sounds like someone I know," Mom replied.
Mom and I were living in a season of grace, so I tried not to take offense at what appeared to be backhanded compliments.
Her keen observation was spot on.
I was told that once I could stand alone, I wriggled out of my mother's arms and made her chase me.

Obviously, something’s gotta’ change.
Maybe we think we're too much; our problems are too heavy.
We don't trust God's love to hold us up.
We take off in our hurry and worry until we finally hit a wall and come undone.
There has to be a better way to go through life, but how do you get there?
The world says all paths lead to God, but that lie drove us straight out of Eden. The only way back to paradise is not on your own two feet.
Jesus says, "You know the Way." (John 14:4)
Take a minute. Take a breath. Be still and know you're loved.
Deep down, you know it's true.
Eternal grace and peace aren't always a few steps ahead, hoping to be discovered.
Those precious gifts are right here, right now, in the middle of your angst and unrest.
"I am the Way," Jesus says. (Jn 14:6)
The way to life is only found in the arms of the One who knows and loves you best.
It's OK to stop running. Lift your arms in surrender, and let Jesus carry you today.
