3 TRUTHS TO PACK FOR A HARD JOURNEY (Studying Abroad Series)
Jesus said we'd have trouble in this world, but it always catches me off-guard for some reason.
One text drastically changed our travel plans for the year:
"Mom, please call. There's bad news.”
Instead of flying to a long-awaited anniversary trip, my husband and I jumped in the truck and embarked on an unexpected journey.
The Bible says, “We must go through many hardships to enter the kingdom of God." (Acts 14:22)
Hardships? I envisioned a pool-side espresso in a lounge chair. Instead, I walked through the valley of death’s shadow with my beloved family.
I don’t know the “whys” of my hard journey or yours, but I do know “Who” we can trust to lead us through the pain to the coming glory.
God’s goodness and faithfulness will go with us every step of the way.
Here are three truths to remember when the path suddenly veers off into the unknown.
1. JESUS IS WITH YOU UNTIL THE VERY END.
“He will not fail you or abandon you, so do not lose courage or be afraid.”
(Deut. 31:8, GNT)
“ And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:20, CSB)
I felt confused, but never abandoned.
Nothing in Heaven and Earth can separate you from God’s love, because Jesus made the way for you, too.
2. JESUS WILL MAKE A WAY FOR YOU.
“When you’re between a rock and a hard place, it won’t be a dead end.”
(Isaiah 43:2, MSG)
“I will make a road through the wilderness and give you streams of water there.”
(Isaiah 43:19)
There were days I didn't know how any of us remained standing, let alone moved forward.
Because of God's grace, you can travel through impossible places, too.
3. JESUS IS PRAYING FOR YOU.
“But I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail.” (Luke 22:32, CSB)
“Father, I want them with me…so that they can see my glory.” (John 17:24, TPT)
Jesus didn't slap me on the back and say, “Good luck! You got this!” Rather, Jesus opens His arms to you and me, saying, “Here I AM. You’ve got Me.”
Whatever your journey today, follow Jesus. I know He'll carry you through.
Jesus will lead you through every hardship and bring you into your final destination—the Kingdom of God.
