HOW TO BE SURE OF GOD’S LOVE (Back to Sunday School Series)
It’s always the questions we can’t answer.
"Where is Jesus?" was the question that stumped me as a little girl, and it made me doubt God's love.
And for as many times as I raised my hand in Sunday School and recited what I’d been taught, there was more I needed to know before "this little light of mine" erupted into a Holy Spirit fire.
Because unwavering faith grows stronger with "hands-on" learning.
Deep down, you knew it, too.
That beautifully illustrated, cut-out Jesus your well-meaning teacher moved around the felt-covered board was not the REAL Jesus.
The REAL Jesus walked the same earth He created with dusty, calloused feet like yours and mine.
Even when His lifelong, diehard followers first met Him, they asked the same question that once burned in your 5-year-old heart when cut-out Jesus on a cross was swapped out with a picture of an empty tomb.
"Jesus, where are You when you can't be seen?"
So many times, you wished you’d been brave enough to utter those words, because every time your heart broke you became less sure of what you learned.
Jesus’s answer is the same yesterday, today and forever. To everyone who seeks to find Him, He replies:
"Come, and you will see." (John 1:39)
And when you dare to come and see "where" the heart of Jesus Christ resides, you're ready to hear the answer to the REAL question you've carried all your life.
"WHO are You, Jesus?"
You were afraid to ask because you were afraid of the answer.
Jesus says, "Fear not,” and opens His arms wide to invite you to "hands-on" learning through His Word and His Life.
The Son of God knows when you hear His voice, thrust your hand in His wounded side, and wipe His sandy feet with your poured-out, tangled-up, tear-soaked life, you'll KNOW that you KNOW that you KNOW.
The REAL JESUS is Who He claims to be.
Jesus told her, "I am the resurrection and the life. Anyone who believes in Me will live, even after dying. Everyone who lives in Me and believes in Me will never ever die. Do you believe this?"
(John 11:25-26, NLT)
And if Jesus is true, so is His love for you.
"For this is how God loved the world: He gave His One and Only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16, NLT)
And if the love of God is true, so is the Spirit’s flame that ignited in your heart when you first believed.
"Come, and you will see." (John 1:39)
