OUR DEEPEST NEED

We pray. We wait. We plead. We bargain.

And sometimes it appears that God remains silent.

Unmoved by our despair. Unaffected by our sorrow.

But, my friend, that is simply not true.

Jesus stands with open arms to receive all that we cannot bear to carry -

Our pain. Our anger. Our grief.

Our guilt. Our sin. Our shame.

He does not send us away.

Jesus says, “Come”

“Come to me all you who are weary and burdened; and I will give you rest.”

We kneel before Him seeking solutions and scramble up quickly when they are not found.

But could it be that in our want, we draw closer to our need?

That each time we reach to Him, He is touching a part of our brokenness.

He is lovingly putting us back together -

Piece by piece.

Could it be that our heart’s deepest longing is to be held and loved by our Creator?

As you lay down your requests before Him today, may He grant all you desire.

But even more, may you know the greater answer you seek, but dare not ask.

Lean in a little closer and you will hear Jesus respond,

“Yes, I love you, my dear, beautiful child.”

“The Lord is close to all who call on Him, yes, to all who call on Him in truth.”

Psalms 145:18 NLT
