WALKING MIRACLE
I was brought up in a world where broken people were healed with a single touch from God.
Week after week, the bruised and weary made their way to the altar bent under the weight of their ailments and soon returned to their seats upright and whole.
But many others wore a threadbare path down the old church aisle, convinced that God had passed them by.
And I was shuffling back and forth among them, unaware I was a walking miracle.
I assumed myself untouched, unwanted, and unable to attract the Lord’s attention because I didn’t see instant results.
But the most extraordinary miracles are not ones measured by the naked eye. Instead, they are unfurled little by little over our lifetime.
And the Maker of Heaven and Earth sees them through from beginning to end.
Yes, we are miracles - two cells joined together at the altar of God’s design, granted life by the Creator King before we even asked, slowly taking on His likeness in a secret place.
And yet, there is more.
"For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16 (NIV)
We are born into a broken world and bear its scars and dirt. Even so, God's love will never pass us by. Jesus sees, touches, and heals every wound. Though for now, our perfect healing remains to be seen.
For here, you will stumble. Here, I will fall.
You and I may break into a million pieces that crawl back to the altar.
And in the power of Jesus’ name, we will rise again.
Because we are His living, breathing, walking miracles.
"And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.”
Philippians 1:6 (NLT)
