WHEN LIFE GIVES YOU LEMONS, TRUST JESUS.
“I got a 31-year squeeze out of a one-year lemon. That’s how I look at it.”
That was my nephew Taeler’s summary of his dire situation after discontinuing his treatment.
Years of fighting cancer had taught him that life was no picnic. But he took “making lemonade out of lemons” to a whole new level. His next statement defied mortality.
“I’ve seen a lot of things in life, but I’ve never seen Heaven. I’m looking forward to it.”
As he stared down death, eternity sparked in his eyes.
Like Taeler, I’ve seen a lot of things in life, too. And his tenacious courage in the face of death was one of the most miraculous things I’ve ever witnessed.
Taeler was no ordinary lemon, but neither are you.
Our confession of faith in crushing circumstances reveals the extraordinary juice within us.
Every Christ follower has enough supernatural juice not only to survive, but to thrive when the world puts on the squeeze.
You’ve got Jesus, so you’ve got the juice.
His life and resurrection power flow through your veins (Romans 8:11).
Jesus defeated sin and death, so you’ll never lose anything of value.
You’ll never lose hope. “Christ is in you, the hope of glory.” (Colossians 1:23)
You’ll never lose faith. “If we are faithless, He remains faithful.” (2 Timothy 2:13)
You’ll never lose ground. "I go and prepare a place for you.” (John 14:3)
Most important of all, you’ll never lose your soul. “Anyone who believe in Me will live, even after dying.” (John 11:25)
Jesus in you defies all the odds. No power on earth can outwit or outmatch His plan for your good and His glory.
One glorious day, you’ll see it all from beginning to end. Nothing on earth will compare to what God has prepared for those who love Him. Death will give way to life. Tears will give way to joy. Bitter will give way to the eternally sweet promise of no pain, fear, or sorrow.
“What we suffer now is nothing compared to the glory He will give us later.” (Romans 8:18)
The harder the squeeze, the greater the glory.
So take heart, press on. I see Jesus in you.
