DON’T FEAR TOMORROW
The day wasn't over, but I longed to hide under the covers.
"Maybe you're tired because of tomorrow?" My husband suggested, knowing that the date on the calendar had stolen my sleep for weeks.
I shrugged. It was hard to keep the faith about tomorrow.
"Trust in the Lord," he gently reminded me.
I knew he was right, but the questions kept coming. What would happen tomorrow? What if I wasn't strong enough to fight? Even worse, what if God didn't come to the rescue?
It doesn’t matter how many “tomorrows” we’ve made it through in the past; fear tells us we won’t survive the future.
"No weapon forged against us will prevail,” faith claims.
But what if it hurts? Fear shames.
Yet, while faith and fear wage a fierce war inside us, a moment of truth leads to victory for every child of God.
Ding! The truth arrived via a text message moments before my head hit the pillow that night.
“Jesus overcame the world,” it read, “Sweet dreams.”
I slept like a baby, and you will too.
No matter what trouble tomorrow holds, your eternity is secure because Jesus overcame the world.
"It is finished!" Jesus declared from the cross, conquering sin and death.
And the Heavenly Father agreed.
Scripture records that, "At that moment, the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom." (Matthew 27:51, NIV)
Fear not, because nothing can separate you from the love of God through Christ Jesus your Lord.
Not even the grave, Satan’s biggest weapon, can steal your hope.
Because Jesus overcame the world, you’re an overcomer, too.
Matthew tells us what that looks like, "The earth shook and the rocks split. The tombs broke open and the bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. They came out of the tombs, and after Jesus' resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many people." (Matthew 27:52-53, NIV)
Nothing can defeat God’s grand plan for your life. Because Jesus rose from the grave, you will rise from death to life and return Home where you belong.
Tomorrow, the mountains may shake. Next week, the hills may be removed.
But these temporary circumstances will only make way for the victory that is yours through Christ Jesus, your Lord.
So you needn't fear tomorrow.
Jesus has overcome the world.
Sweet dreams.
