WITH US...STILL

Our God is unchanging and unshakeable

As we approach year-end for the year that we thought would end all years, I would like to point out that it did not end the eternal God - nor did it end you, my weary, resilient friend.

For a year is sometimes simply 365 days of breathing in, breathing out, setting your toes gingerly on the floor each dawn, while inviting the Presence of God into it all - your failures, your fears, your want, your need, and the impossibilities that you sometimes chase with the little hope you have.

And yes, I know that this particular year held one day more than you thought you could take.

But as the calendar pages turned, the God Who loves and adores you was there, watching you circle and mark off the squares of your life - whether you lived them fully or barely existed.

And while time has a way of changing us, the one Eternal God cannot be touched by any clock and remains perfectly and completely, the same.

Each day of this year, the same God Who created the Heavens and the Earth, sparked His strength in your spirit.

Each day of this year, the same God Who named and placed the stars in the midnight sky, whispered your name in the darkness.

Each day of this year, the same God Who poured out His own blood to give you life, filled your soul with the deep down assurance that you were loved.

And oh, my questioning friend, you ARE so loved.

For if you just pause, ever so briefly, and look back at where you have been, you will see the hand of Jesus holding yours, every single step of the way.

And those moments that paralyzed and threatened to drain you to despair?

It was Jesus Himself Who gently picked you up and carried you into your next tomorrow.

Yes, that was Him. Do you remember?

So as we wave good-bye to a year we never saw coming, let us not forget that our All-Knowing God was never taken by surprise.

Our friend, Jesus, was with us.

And He will continue to go before us, into all our days to come.

“And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

Matthew 28:20b nlt
