ARE YOU LOST?
It was past midnight, the cabin dark, but my soul was even darker.
So I pushed through the screen door, past my fear, and stumbled into the night.
A heaviness sat upon my shoulders that I didn’t know how to carry anymore.
I had no idea what lay beyond the shadows; I couldn’t see a clear path ahead. Confusion had invaded such a familiar place.
So, finding no words to pray, I wept instead.
Because sometimes, God’s children get lost in the dark, even when they know the way.
Are you out there somewhere, too? Wandering in an endless night?
Have no fear, precious one.
Your Father, the Maker of the sun, moon, and stars, will find you.
Jesus will come and light the way.
That night, as I stood waiting, a gentle breeze rattled the leaves and kissed my tear-stained cheek.
“Hi, Jesus,” I whispered, and suddenly, a hundred thousand stars appeared, piercing through the empty sky, and then I knew.
I was seen, and I was loved.
No darkness could ever hide me from the Light of the World.
Jesus took my hand, walked me back home, and tucked me in bed, where I fell into a peaceful slumber, confident that the morning would come.
And when it did, He was still with me.

Why do I like Jesus so much? My granddaughter asked me.
Because I am never lost in the dark.
Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12, ESV)
