GOD’S NAME ‘I AM’

“NIK!!!” my granddaughter, Bug, calls me when she wakes up from her nap, “I NEED you!”

This old body comes a-running when I hear her voice because all I am is all for her every moment, every day.

When she sees me, she smiles because all she really needed was to know I was there.

And I can be whatever she requires me to be-a tuna fish sandwich maker, a piggyback ride giver, or an expert hairstylist-because earlier that day, I had made a call of my own.

“JESUS! I NEED You!” was my prayer that morning. 

After pouring a cup of coffee, I opened my Bible and read about Moses, a man who wasn’t sure he was up to his God-given tasks either. 

“Who am I?” Moses asked God, “And more importantly, Who are You?”

God answered, “I will be with you. I AM Who I AM.”

Because when we don’t know who we are or if we can do what He’s asked us to do, God will remind us of Who He is. 

His name is "I AM."

"I AM" is all we will ever need - Creator, Sustainer, and Giver of life, peace, strength, and hope.

“I AM” is everything we are not and yet chooses to come running when we call.

Because “I AM” loves us, we don't need to wonder who we are. 

Because "I AM" is ours, and we are His, we are enough.

Because He is everything I need.
