HOW TO TRUST GOD WITH THE DETAILS

"I wish God would just send me a memo!" I say, throwing up my hands.

Conducting day-to-day business is hard if you're a Christian hoping to please the Boss.

Life feels like an office where God calls, we answer, but we're unsure if we heard the message right.

How can we know for sure?

Humans have struggled with God-given assignments since the beginning. So when Jesus appeared at the water cooler, the crowd anxiously asked God's Son.

"What exactly does God want us to do?"

Jesus answered, "God wants you to have faith in the one he sent." (John 6:28-29)

Still, we want more details. Exactly HOW do we translate faith into real life? Back then, people demanded a sign. Today, you might request a memo.

You need more information to be sure of yourself.

But God wants you to be sure of Him.

You may view God like Mr. Hard-to-Please, the Big Boss sitting in the corner office out of sight but never out of mind. I had a boss like that and used to scurry past his door, terrified he'd call me in for a task I couldn't handle.

One day, he stopped me, "Miss Bliss! Take a memo! NOW."

My rusty shorthand could barely keep up as the boss dictated a harsh message to the staff. I left his presence confused, unable to decipher my chicken scratch.

That failure reassigned me to another department, and I stepped into the new boss' office with fear and trembling.

But Mr. Grace was nothing like my original supervisor.

"Miss Bliss, you're perfect for this job. Welcome to the family!"

Clearly, he hadn't heard about my shortcomings.

He smiled at me like he liked what he saw and gave me a few simple tasks for the day. At 5, he patted me on the back and said, "Enjoy your night. We'll face tomorrow together."

Over time, I began to understand that Mr. Grace was far more interested in people than the bottom line. Mistakes were forgiven, lessons were learned, and we quickly moved on.

Still, I feared failure until Mr. Grace made a shocking revelation.

"You remind me of my daughter."

You needn't fear reprisals. When God's grace looks at you, He sees Someone He loves.

Trusting Jesus doesn't make you a hired employee. You're God's beloved child.

God already sent you the Memo you've been waiting for.

Jesus, the Living Word, contains every detail you need to go about your Father's business today.

So trust Him to help you manage yours.
