SHE SAID "YES!"

Love was in the air this week as our son gallantly proposed to his bride-to-be.

I couldn’t help but be taken back to my own proposal; but as my husband tells the story, I asked HIM to marry me.

And while some push to rewrite history these days, in this case, he may be right; because I found that a dream that big is hard to contain, and even harder to wait for.

Clearly, my incessant impatience marks my faith walk as well, as I quickly tire of waiting for God’s promises to be fulfilled in my life. So I heavily trudge through the string of endless, aching days between the first hint of possibility and its final delivery.

Once I lose sight of the Deliverer while waiting, I become guilty of bending rules and manipulating circumstances to manufacture the answer I seek.

Perhaps you can relate?

But we must stop to remember that as God’s children, we are not called to a faith of instant gratification, but one of tested endurance and trust in the Promise Keeper Himself.

And we should never be discouraged by our inability to persevere, but recognize it as an opportunity to redirect our focus from what we desire, to Who we already have.

For all of the promises God has made to us are answered yes in Christ Jesus. When we move through our days with Him at the core of our being, each step we take toward our longings shouts a loud amen that echoes across the plains of this broken world.

Just like that engagement ring I longed for years ago, the true worth of what I actually received, extended far beyond the value of any earthly jewel, for I have experienced life itself with the gift giver.

So as we continue to wait for our God-given dreams to come true, let us hold tighter still to the long-awaited, fulfilled promise of Jesus, already graciously given, whose love rushes to meet every single ache of our human hearts here, now and throughout eternity.

For all of God’s promises have been fulfilled in Christ with a resounding “Yes!” And through Christ, our “Amen” ascends to God for His glory.
